Jewish India Tour

Places Covered: Mumbai-> Pune-> Cochin

Duration: 8 Days Day 1st-Mumbai

Arrival at Mumbai airport and meet and assist with representatives. Transfer to the lodge for overnight stay and dinner.

Day 2nd-Mumbai

After morning meal, cruise across the harbor of Mumbai to Elephanta Islands, 9 kms away and spot the massive rock cut temple. At afternoon prepare to visit the major attractions of the city including Chowpatty Beach, Gateway of India, and Hanging Gardens. Also visit the Tifereth Synagogue & Magen David Synagogue. Also enjoy walking trip to Kennethy Synagogue and overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 3rd-Mumbai

Take morning meal and leave for sightseeing to the Rocky Outcorp of South Mumbai. It is the place where the marvel of Bnei Yisrael flourished. It is believed that this area was inhabited by 7 men and 7 women who later on became famous as oil-pressers. At present there are few shuls and this area is still surrounded by some Jews who carry out oil pressing. It is also recognized as the most sacred holy place of Bene Israelies. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4th-Mumbai-Pune

After morning meal, transfer to the Mumbai Rail-head to board the train for Pune. The journey will take 2 hrs. Transfer to the lodge after reaching and later on proceed for city tour to Gandhi National Memorial, Agha Khan Palace, Osho Commune International, Museum of Arthropoda and Succath Shelmo Synagogu. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5th-Pune/Mumbai

After having breakfast, travel around David Synagogue that was set up in 1867 and was constructed by the Sasoon dynasty. Late in the noon, transfer to the rail head to get back to the Mumbai. Check in the hotel to stay overnight and have dinner.

Day 6th-Mumbai/Cochin

Transfer to the airport to board the flight for Cochin. Check-in the hotel after arrival. In the noon, travel around Heritage Area, where original and innovative architecture of this city has been conserved. Visit the Chinese Fishing Nets and St. Francis Church. Witness Kathakali Dance form in the evening and then after go back to the hotel to stay during night.

Day 7th-Cochin

Take the morning meal and after that visit to the Jewish Community along with the striking Pardesi Synagogue. This synagogue was created by Samuel Castiel, Ebrahim Sala, David Belila and situates on the lands of the Maharaja of Cochin.

Day 8th-Cochin/Mumbai/Delhi

Transfer to the airport early in the morning to board the flight to Mumbai to Delhi. The day is free to shop, visit and carry on other activities. The tour terminates here.
